In Breckenridge, Colorado, blank canvases of snow become unforgettable works of art. From a whimsical puppy (pictured here) looking into a "mirror," to graceful birds, to thought provoking abstract shapes, sculptors form these masterpieces before thousands of spectators over the course of one week each year. In its 16th year, artists from all over the world, including USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Switzerland and other far-away locations, gathered to present the most intricate, awe-inspiring snow sculptures the world has ever seen. These artists carved twenty-ton, 12-foot-tall blocks of snow into 13 remarkable pieces of art using only their creativity, inspiration, own two hands and permitted hand tools. Roger Moen, Breckenridge realtor, is pleased to share this exciting event and 17 amazing photographs with all of us. Enjoy!
This puppy sculpture pictured above, "Discovery," was awarded First Place, Kids' Choice, and People's Choice!
This is what the snow sculptures looked like before and while the artists worked their magic. Now you can appreciate their Snow Sculpture masterpieces even more!

Roger & Teresa Moen love their beautiful mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado. Besides being a major ski resort town, Breckenridge is also the home of the International Snow Sculpture Competition! And besides being photographers, the Moens are full-time Realtors, and would love to help you own a wonderful second home, or a ski-in, ski-out condo, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains!
