Downloading and Installing the OS X Screen Saver or Collections

What happens when downloading the OSXSampler or a collection installer depends on what browser you use, and these instructions are for Safari which should be on all the latest Mac computers. The OSXSampler or Collection xxxx (xxxx is the number of the collection) file will download (you should be able to see the progress in the window titled "Downloads"). Then, on most systems, an Apple Finder window will open that should have a blue ViseX icon with the caption of "OSXSampler" or "Collection xxxx". Double click the blue icon and follow the on-screen instructions to begin the install. When you get a message that the installation was successful click the Quit button.

If your computer does not automatically expand the .bin file for you, you'll need to know where your browser saves downloaded files. Locate the file named "OSXSampler.bin" or "xxxx.bin" and double-click it. You'll get a brief progress dialog, then an Apple Finder window will open that should have a blue ViseX icon with the caption of "OSXSampler" or "Collection xxxx". Double click the blue icon and follow the on-screen instructions to install the screen saver software or the collection. When you get a message that the installation was successful click the Quit button.

If the .bin file will not expand you may not have StuffIt Expander on your computer or your computer may not configured to automatically expand .bin files. If you don't have StuffIt Expander you can download it for free at http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/stuffit/expander.html. This link works correctly as of May 2009.

If the .dmg file does not open, double click it and you will see a blue Vise X icon titled "OSXSampler" or "Web Collection Installer". Double click the blue icon to launch the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the screen saver software or the collection. When you get a message that the installation was successful click the Quit button.

When you're done with the installation you can click the little eject icon next to the disk icon that says "OSXSampler" or "Collection xxxx" in the left pane of the finder window. You can delete the .dmg and .bin files when you know that everything is working.

You can find more information on how to use our screen saver at http://www.secondnaturecd.com/coreduo.html. The screen shots are for OSX version 4 so some of the pictures won't look exactly like what you'll see with Leopard, but the functionality is the same.
