Janice Reed

Photography for Janice Reed began as added value service to her microscope customers. The media immediately captured her imagination so that she proceeded to absorb all the classes and read all the books she could include in her busy schedule. Janice has taken many classes with prominent photographers including, Bruce Barnbaum, Ruth Bernhard, David Hiser, Pat O'Hara, Bryan Peterson, & John Shaw. Formally trained in medical laboratory science and biochemistry, Janice finds a strong connection between science and the arts. An understanding of the world around us through observation naturally leads to an artistic appreciation of the smallest details for her.

A passion for photography became a desire to share her view of the world with others through "JL Ecklund Photography." Janice's mission is to capture the light via photographs in a way that encourages viewers to look more closely for the wonderful things that can be as close as our own backyard. Publishing credits include Northwest Travel, Nature Conservancy, Photo Life, calendars and screensavers. She is represented by Definitive Stock of Seattle, Washington.

Janice combines her passion for photography with her love of the outdoors and travel to create photographs she hopes will instill in others her concern for preserving the amazing world in which we live. Janice continues to donate 10% of the profits from her artwork to organizations that preserve the areas in which her wonderful pictures were made. Janice hopes that the beauty and fragile existence of the things she photographs will encourage others to protect them also.
