JOHN GAVRILIS, photographer About the Artist Born July 9, 1950, a native of Berkeley, JOHN GAVRILIS has resided in California all of his life. He makes his home in Aptos, along the Monterey Peninsula, where the ocean is part of his daily life. John has been a professional photographer since 1976. A former chronicler of the halcyon days of the San Francisco music scene, he has captured portraits of many immortal rock legends. Gavrilis now concentrates on portraits of nature. His award-winning photographs are displayed in various corporate and private collections throughout the United States and Europe. His first published book, 'Rhythm of the Land,' covers the bounty that is the American landscape, and includes the dramatic shoreline of the West Coast, the Indian lands and canyons of the Southwest, and the autumn landscapes of New England. John travels throughout the year, creating and exhibiting his fine art prints. His signed and numbered limited edition photographs are available through his Web site at: www.GavrilisPhotography.com. His poster collection may be found in print shops, both nationwide and internationally. John's annual photography calendar, The Spirit of Place, is sold in bookstores from coast to coast. A Linhof 4x5 Master Technika, is his camera of choice.
