Richard Cummins is an internationally published photographer and writer. An Irishman by birth, he emigrated to Southern California in 1989 after serving ten years as a lighthouse keeper in the Irish Lighthouse Service. During this time he taught himself the craft of photography, and has since then developed a style uniquely his own.
He has received numerous awards, among them two from the United Nations Photographic Council. His photographs have captured the mood and spirit of his subjects and this ability has gained him an international reputation with the editors of some of the finest publications. Among his photographic credits are National Geographic (USA), Sierra (USA), Terre Sauvage (France) and Practical Photography (England).
The photographer's framed images have been exhibited in galleries in Ireland, New York's Rockefeller Center, San Francisco, Palm Springs and The United Nations headquarters. His main body of work is represented by several major stock agencies world wide and he also markets his own stock directly to publishers. He is also the author and photographer of a children's book on Ireland.
Richard Cummins runs his own stock agency which specializes in travel photography and has over 75,000 images on file. The use of intense color and high impact images gives editors a competitive edge when it comes to selecting work.
