I can hardly believe we’re closing our organization and web site in just one week, on May 22! One of our dear customers mentioned to Terry that I "suggested" she make a backup copy of the files. Oops! I didn’t intend to merely suggest, but rather explain what has to be done by our customers. All of us at Second Nature want you to be able to enjoy your Second Nature collections for a long time, so we’ve created a list of specific things you’ll need to know and want to do NOW to be sure you’ll be ready. Please read the P.S. and print the directions!
Double-check to be sure you have all the collections you want because NOW is your last opportunity ever, through May 21, to obtain Second Nature collections! Save a BIG 66% OFF everything! Use

For the last, time I’m sharing some our customers’ favorite collections.
Winter Twilight by Kevin McNeal
Nicki Tullman tells us: Kevin’s serene snowy scenes capture my heart and help me relax in the midst of busy days. Mickey Hoffman states: I can feel the exhilarating joy of walking in pristine snow, hearing the crunch beneath my feet.
Colorado Gold by Andy Cook
Richard Anderson says: I love autumn, and Colorado has some of the finest colors! Janet Smallton tells us: I’ll probably never see with my own eyes the glorious fall colors of Colorado, so am thrilled to be able to enjoy these scenes on my computer.
Lazy Days of Summer by Randy Van Beek Tyra Delevan says: I thoroughly enjoy the countryside paintings. They remind me of fun summer days spent on my grandparents’ farm when I was a young boy. I fondly remember the glow of the evening skies when we’d sit on the porch and smell the fragrant hay.
The Serenity Collection by Charles Gurche Alice Larson tells us: It’s incredible when I see the Gurche photographs filling my screen! If you haven’t experienced this, I want you to know you won’t be disappointed! Mark Hamilton states: This is a collection for all seasons. It’s one of my favorites!
Hawaiian Beauty by Robert Thomas Lee Silvers says: Who wouldn’t love to visit Hawaii? Robert paints with a “happy paintbrush” and brings these lovely scenes to life! I think I remember Dorothy discovering this artist while visiting friends on the Big Island. Thank you, Robert and Dorothy, for sharing this wonderful Hawaiian artwork with me!

Over the last twenty years, we’ve created hundreds of collections for your viewing pleasure and for the benefit of various nonprofit environmental agencies. Together we’ve been able to donate more than $2.5 million dollars to help preserve the world’s natural wonders and wildlife! Can you believe it? I can hardly believe that the sale of screen savers has enabled us to reach this goal. Thank you for your enthusiastic support and accompanying me and the rest of our Second Nature staff on a journey for two decades. My heart is full with gratitude, and I’m anticipating a nice relaxing pot of tea brewing for Art, my wonderful husband of almost 49 years, and I. There’s so much we have to be thankful for.
I wish you a bright and fulfilling forever!
Please remember to read these directions and print them so you’ll be ready for May 22, when we’re gone.
- If you have collections left to choose in a Collection Package, choose your collections now and INSTALL and SAVE them onto a CD or Flash Drive as described below.
- You'll need to have all your collections INSTALLED NOW (so all the snx files are listed in each collection folder) on your current computer before the web site closes. Tip: The snx files are NOT designed to be opened, but rather just to be used as screen savers/ desktop wallpaper.
- Saving the exe or bin files will be of no use at all, because those files depend on authorizations from our web site (which will no longer exist) of your email address and zip.
- After installing all your collections, you’ll want to save all your collections to an external device such as a flash drive or a DVD or CD so that if your computer is unavailable or unusable, you’ll still have the saved collections.
Windows Users backup directions:
- For Windows, you are looking for the Images folder which has subfolders for the actual collections, and in those subfolders, you’ll find the snx files, etc. Each person may have chosen their own default location when they installed, so not everybody’s collections are in the same location. You’ll want to copy the entire Images folder, including all of the subfolders with the collections and their snx file contents, to the flash drive or DVD or CD.
- For most people the Samplers with the software engine are installed here: C:\Program files\secondnature\images
- Most people have their purchased collections installed here: C:\slideshw\images (Please note: There's no "o" in slideshw.)
- If you can’t find these above locations, try re-installing one of your purchased collections and see where your own specific default location is.
- Here's the Windows directions for how to "create your own collections." You will better understand in Step 3 on that web page as to why you need to have the Images folder and the collection subfolders and their snx files, etc. copied to your flash drive, CD or DVD. Print those "create your own collections" directions on that web page so you'll have them when and if you need them.
Macintosh Users: Print the directions found on this web page now!
Instructions for Everyone:
- You’ll want save all your collections to an external device such as a flash drive or a DVD or CD so that if your computer is unavailable or unusable, you’ll still have the saved collections.
- When www.secondnature.com is taken down on May 22, it will redirect you to the new small web site with directions for migration to a new computer. You’ll need to print all the directions as the new small web site will be available for only a rather short period of time. When Second Nature’s current web site goes away, there will no longer be a way to authorize installations of collections. So, please do all your installations and backups NOW, while you still can through May 21.
- We will announce when the newly revised Sampler is released on the new small web site. It will not require an email address nor a zip code. You will want to install this revised Sampler as soon as possible, noting where the default location is, and make a copy of all those files too into a separate folder on your external device also.
Good-bye, Second Nature friends! I've tremendously enjoyed our time together over the years.
Terry, Mike and Gary all send their best to you too, and thank you for being such great Second Nature fans! As I enjoy my collections, I'll be thinking of you enjoying yours too. I'll miss you.
