A disk full error may occur when there is insufficient disk space to complete an operation, such as writing a temporary (scratch) file, saving a file, or copying a file to a new location.
Most applications and printer drivers only target the boot volume (i.e., the disk with the active System Folder) as the scratch disk.
To determine the amount of available disk space:
At the Finder double-click a folder to view its contents in a window. The amount of available disk space should appear in the window's header below the title bar.
Note: If you are using System 7.x and the amount of available disk space does not appear in the window, open the Views control panel and select Show Disk Info in Header.
If available space is insufficient, increase available disk space using any of the following methods:
-
Back up files on disk to another disk (or disks) and trash the originals.
-
Use a compression utility to reduce the amount of disk space needed to store files.
-
Upgrade to a hard disk with more capacity or add another hard disk and then transfer files from the disk on which the system software resides to the additional hard disk.

CUSTOMER APPLAUSE: I'm pretty much home-bound and your screen savers bring places to me that I can't visit - which is a joy. BUT I buy them because it's a way I can travel *and* support environmental causes at the same time. And of course because of the high quality of your contributors' photographs. Thanks for the joy and thanks for supporting the earth. Ellie Moses, Knoxville, Tenn.
