To See a Hummingbird by Tim Fitzharris

Hummingbirds are truly among nature's jewels -- tiny, iridescent, and able to perform feats of aerial magic. It's a challenge to truly see the hummingbirds which seem to be always so far away from our human eye. However Tim Fitzharris, master nature photographer, brings these photogenic creatures close-up so we can actually view these petite birds in all their amazing glory. These diminutive feathered wonders are captured perfectly in this collection with their wings both at rest and in the blur of exquisite flight. Tim invites you to enjoy his collection of stunning photographs of hummingbirds with a dazzling kaleidoscope of colors. Truly a breath-taking experience!

Intriguing Hummingbirds:
Hummingbirds live only in the Western Hemisphere, but can be found almost anywhere between Argentina and Alaska.

In order to survive, they consume as much as three times their body weight each day. That's a lot of nectar and insects!

Hummingbirds are the only birds that can hover and fly backwards and upside down.

They are the smallest warm-blooded animals.

The heart of the hummingbird beats faster than any other animal.

Hummingbirds can beat their wings up to 80 times a second during normal flight.

They are the only birds to go into a form of hibernation at night or when food is scarce by allowing their metabolism to slow and their body temperature to drop dramatically.
