How Do I Completely Remove Second Nature<br> images and software?

Automatic Uninstall

To uninstall THE SOFTWARE (and images) for our screen saver, go to the Start Menu, select "Settings", then "Control Panel", and then double-click "Add/Remove Programs". Scroll down the list of software and select the entry for “Second Nature – Collection Name” (where "Collection Name is the name of the Sampler Collection that you wish to remove). You must uninstall all Samplers that you installed. Only when you uninstall the last Sampler will the software be removed.

After uninstall, the last wallpaper image will remain (by design as many people select an image they like and want it to remain after uninstall of the screen saver feature). If you want to change or remove the wallpaper image, right click on the Windows Desktop and select "Properties" from the menu, then select the "Desktop" tab and select any other image other than "Second Nature" or set it to "(None)", which you can find at the top of the list.

Note: If you installed only the 4.40 Sampler from our web site (or "Sweet Dreams" from Yahoo! Greetings) and are running Windows 9x or ME, it might not be listed in "Add / Remove Programs". This is due to a bug in Windows 9x and ME that prevented the listing of programs with long names. You may run the uninstaller manually in this location:

c:\program files\second nature\unslide\sdreams\unwise.exe

or this location for "Sweet Dreams" from Yahoo! Greetings:

c:\program files\second nature\unslide\ydreams\unwise.exe

Taskbar Icon

If the Second Nature taskbar icon is running when you start uninstalling, you may be prompted to close the Oak-Leaf application (version 4.18 and earlier). To close the application, click on the Green Oak-Leaf icon in the system tray (the system tray is located in the lower right corner of your screen in the area where the time appears) and select 'Exit' from the pop-up menu. That will shut down our screen saver application. On Windows XP some icons may be hidden. Click the right arrow button on the tray to show these hidden icons, and then close the Oak-Leaf icon.

If you want to remove JUST the tray icon (but keep the rest of the software), remove the "snsicon" entry from your "startup" group in Windows. You will lose these features:
  • Automatic Wallpaper Cycling
  • Desktop Calendar
  • Hide / Show Desktop icons
  • upper left mouse hotcorner

Manual Uninstall

In the event that you want to manually remove the Screen Saver files, here's how:

1. Close the green oak-leaf tray icon (near the time display in the taskbar) by clicking on it and selecting "Exit" from the menu.

2. Delete the entire "c:\slideshw" folder (and subfolders if you want images removed)

3. Delete the entire "c:\program files\Second Nature" folder

4. Remove these two files from c:\windows: SSDLL.DLL SNSVR.SCR

5. Remove this file from c:\windows\system32: SSDLL.DLL (might be in c:\windows\system)

6. Remove the "sniscon" link from your "startup" folder.

Second Nature is a proud supporter of nonprofit environmental organizations and has contributed more than $2.5 million dollars to help preserve the world's natural wonders and wildlife.

CUSTOMER APPLAUSE: I'm pretty much home-bound and your screen savers bring places to me that I can't visit - which is a joy. BUT I buy them because it's a way I can travel *and* support environmental causes at the same time. And of course because of the high quality of your contributors' photographs. Thanks for the joy and thanks for supporting the earth. Ellie Moses, Knoxville, Tenn.
